About the Author
David Gibson has engineered and produced albums in a wide range of styles of music - acoustic rock, jazz, rock, new age, heavy metal, rap, hip-hop, and electronica. He has been teaching, engineering, and producing groups in major 24-track studios since 1982 and is the founder of Globe Institute of Recording and Production in San Francisco. Gibson has also done recording for James Brown's band, Bobby Whitlock (Derek and the Dominos), the Atlanta Rhythm Section, and Hank William's Jr.'s band, as well as having worked with members of the Doobie Brothers, Lacy J. Dalton's band, Herbie Hancock's band, and It's a Beautiful Day. Gibson is also the inventor of the patented "Virtual Mixer" mixing plug-in which uses 3D visuals to control a mix.

Maestro Curtis and David Gibson have done an outstanding job!
This book is a great step-by-step guide on how to produce record. The other books on the market don't go into as much detail and aren't as practical as, The Art of Producing. As an artist, I personally favor the section in the book called, "Composition of the Elements", it opened my mind to utilize everything around me as inspiration to use in the dynamics of my singing, colors in my compositions, and overall creativity when writing music. Love the book. Love. Love. Love.

Though now two decades old, still a good place to start for O'Connor readers...

Though Bloom contends that this indexed volume brings together the "best criticism" available related to O'Connor's fiction, two decades have now passed since its publication, so I will simply say that his collection is, indeed, a good starting point that it has sold so well that it will be found in most college and university libraries.

Comments in the Introduction on O'Connor's "The Violent Bear It Away, "A Good Man Is Hard to Find" and "A View of the Woods," and suggests that a division exists "between O'Connor's stance as a Catholic moralist, and the extraordinary thematic and narrative violence of her characteristic work."

Just as good as newer version

I'm using this to supplement my first grade homeschool curriculum. It goes in our "morning basket" as a read aloud book that I read to my daughter a few pages each morning. I like that it's broken into different sections (literature, history, math) and lays out the basics that are reasonable to call "common knowledge" for a first grader. However, I find the easiest way for us to use the book is to simply read aloud straight through (skipping the adult teaching sections).

This book made homeschooling a lot less intimidating

I really like this book. It has been extremely helpful in planning our homeschool curriculum this year. I use many other resources in addition to this, but it gives a very nice setup as far as the goals that you should be setting for the year. It also has plenty of examples and stories to read. I will be buying every year of this series for the future. I feel so much more confident about homeschooling now that I found these books.
