Excellent resource for educators.

This was one of the most useful books on art criticism that I have come across. One of my concerns as an art education student is the question of how to critique works of art, and furthermore, what methods may be used to pass on this knowledge to my future students? This book, since it was written for practical purposes to be used by art critics, artists, educators, and students alike, supplies its reader with very valuable information regarding the concept of art criticism, the various types of critical review, how criticism is used and applied, and the various "problems" and issues involved in art criticism. Feldman was able to make the issue of criticism easier for his reader to understand, through his use of examples of established artwork, illustrating his thoughts and ideas with easy-to-understand language, and identifying what is perceived in each work of art using various methods of interpretation. Through a variety of ways, Feldman instructed his reader as to how to interpret, judge, and defend their criticism.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable and relatively easy read. I would highly suggest this book for anyone interested in understanding works of art -especially teachers and students. The illustrative examples and explanatory writings relate to the art world of today, but also aids us in our understanding of how to interpret art of the past. In combination with other art criticism books, it is my belief that anyone may learn to interpret, judge, and defend their art and art criticism. Edmund Feldman is a wonderful author and teacher; able to guide his audience through the complex issues surrounding art and its criticism.

Art Without Artifice

'Practical Art Criticism' by Edmund Burke Feldman is informative and highly readable, principally because the author addresses his subject without the befuddling, esoteric jargon usually associated with art criticism. Indeed, this is a practical book that gives the reader percipience into modes of interpretation, rubrics for 'visualizing', sentience of demiurgic intent, apperception of myriad praxes and validation of aesthetic conation.

To quote Paul Simon's brief review on the book's back cover, 'I don't know a lot about Art (since the break-up), but I do know a load of old garfunkel when I see it.'

The interrelationship among the 14 Pandanus species at infrageneric level has been worked out using this approach, which has led to the rearrangement of some species to the subgenera proposed by Stone (1974). Moreover, the close relationship between Pandanus and Benstonea has been confirmed and the interrelationship of Indian Pandanus genus in global context is given. This book also describes the economic importance of each Pandanus species.

About the Author
1. Dr. Altafhusain Nadaf is a Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Botany, University of Pune, Pune; working in the area of biochemistry and molecular genetics of Indian Pandanaceae for past 10 years. He was awarded DST-BOYSCAST Fellowship to work as a Visiting Fellow at Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics, Southern Cross University, Lismore, Australia for one year in 2010-11. He has received research grants by several funding agencies including DST-Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientists and DBT-Rapid grant for Young Investigators (RGYI). He has successfully guided several Ph. D. and M. Phil. Students and women scientists (under DST-Women Scientists Scheme -A & B). He is working as a reviewer for many International journals. He has in his credit more than 40 research papers published in peer reviewed national and international journals of repute. He has presented his research work at national and international level. 2. Dr. Rahul Zanan is a young researcher working on the taxonomy and phylogeny of Indian Pandanaceae for past 5 years. He has obtained his doctoral degree from University of Pune, Pune. He has published 8 research papers in International journals. He is the authority on 3 new Pandanus species of India. He has received several awards for best oral and poster presentations in International and National conferences.

Grant Morrison Being Grand

Honey, get the Multiverse: Cosmic Neighborhood Watch crew together because we're having a BBQ.

Look, I know that some people are going to have some difficulty with this series, this comic in particular. It's got a lot of moving pieces (there's 51 earths in this multiverse afterall) and they're all being intangled together. I started out with "Multiversity the Just" it only has one planet highlighted on the side. Then I read Multiversity the Society of Super-Heroes, which has 2. I actually didn't start to read those until Multiversity the Multiversity came out, but I still saved it for last (it had just come out for you later review readers).

I was a little disappointed with myself because I was like "how could I have been such an idiot to miss work by Morrison?" But I got over it pretty quick. The order that I read it in is what makes the most sense to me, it's like a slow drip from one planet to many planets being combined. But A LOT of stuff in the comics won't make sense to folks, and to that I'm gonna say "duh" they're combining universes and even parodying Marvel Comics in it also. If you're combining dozens of universes into a handful of comics, a lot of it will be confusing, and a lot of it isn't intended to make sense.

I think that this particular issue suffers from being a little choppy. It feels very rushed, where as the other two felt like a smooth ride into their climax. But that doesn't mean that it's not one hell of a fun ride because it's meant to be confusing after all. Imagine being the characters in the comic and being thrown around from one world to another, unsure of the inhabitants and what you're going to run into. Morrison is making you suffer with them. Remember, the comic is communicating with you and you're being sucked into it... Just like every other character who is reading comics, in their comic.

Don't let other reviews on this comic discourage you from reading it. It introduces a VERY important character. Plus, it introduces black Superman. He's my all time favorite Superman because he's practical, he's smart and he's got a kind of grit I haven't found from other Supes. He's not the only one though, a slew of other well known and veritable characters are brought into this "monster mash".

Stick around for the ride. I don't want to give any spoilers because every page is pretty darn awesome. Get this issue.

This was purchased as required text for a Health Comm but I thuroughly enjoyed reading it. Well written with lots of information but not too many boring details we don't need. I am impressed with the wealth of information given to us in an easy to read and enjoyable format
